Experimental evidence for the formation of a new matter state in Pb-Pb interactions at Cern SPS.
Abstract The main experimental results obtained at the Cern SPS in nucleus-nucleus interactions will be reported. The results show that the obtained values for global variables are compatible with the critical ones expected for a phase transition from hadronic matter to a quark-gluon plasma. Specific evidence derived from the study of the production of strange particles and of the J/Psi will be presented.
